國立清華大學主軸增能計畫「視覺再現的規約與科學技術知識的傳遞」獲得科技部與清華大學人文社會研究中心支持，將於本月24、25日於蘇格貓底咖啡館舉辦「Reasoning
and Representation with Diagrams: History and Philosophy of Science and Technology in the East and the West」（圖像的推理與表徵：東西方科學技術史中的圖像）國際研討會。

科學圖像是近年來科學史與科學哲學研究中最前沿的主題之一。我們邀請了歐洲、美國、與國內十餘位學者，以自然與社會科學與技術發展為研究對象，透過科學技術史、經濟思想史、科學哲學的研究，探討東西方的科學技術史裡面圖像做為推理與表徵的工具所扮演的歷史意義與哲學意涵角色。

在本會議中，我們邀請了不同學科的學者與會，其中包括了經濟學家、科學哲學家、數學史家、技術史家、與地圖史學者，透過跨領域跨文化的討論與思考激盪，希望能夠為科學技術中圖像的歷史，開發一個新的研究取向。

This international conference invites prominent historians of economics, mathematics, cartography, and technology to explore the issues of how mathematical diagrams, economic charts, maps, and technical drawings can be the means of reasoning as well as a tool of communicating and accumulating knowledge in the philosophy and the history of science and technology.
