Research interests

Conceptions of terrestrial space in the emerging Chinese Empire (the late Warring States period through the Han dynasty, 4th century BC – 2nd century AD) – their nature, structure and functions, descriptive and graphic forms of spatial representation.

The impact of early spatial concepts on Chinese maps, in particular, cartography of the Song dynasty (960-1279) related to classical texts. Revisions of spatial concepts, beginning from cartography of the Yuan dynasty (1271-1368).
